Christmas Handicap 2005
Congratulations to all the winners at the Christmas Handicap and annual presentations on Sunday 18th December On a cold crisp and later drizzly afternoon the 4¼ mile annual event around Standish was won this year by Paul Derbyshire. The fastest time was set by Phil Darbyshire (no relation) in a time of 23.42 and the fastest lady was Lynn Jolley (26.34) who also came second, splitting the 2 Derbyshires who are related. Fancy dress highlights were provided by a Scots ale belly clan and an 8 member crocodile who all crossed the line in a line though it must be said the only thing some of the group had in common was the green tights After the Handicap presentations there followed the other annual awards as follows Road Grand Prix Winner Dave Townsend 2nd Paul Derbyshire 3rd Andy Nightingale 1st Vet 40 Howard Waite 1st Vet 45 Dave Parkinson Ladies Winner Yvonne Wyke 2nd Debbie Dutton

Tony Lenagan Trophy for the best run over 20 miles Lynn Jolley for her 2.57 PB at the Berlin Marathon
And finally the prestigious Joe’s Cup for club member of the year was shared (for the first time in its 12 year history) between Phil Derbyshire and Andy Ward
